The ROUSH Performance story.

It's extremely easy to argue that Stage 3 Motorsports owes most of its existence to ROUSH Performance. Bill Lindsay began the fledgling company by selling a few ROUSH parts to his friends before expanding Stage 3 Motorsports into the highest-volume ROUSH retailer in the world. Just as one initial sale marked the eventual creation an entire company, ROUSH Performance was wrought from the brilliance of one man. Jack Roush founded the performance wing of ROUSH Industries in 1995 with an expressed purpose of providing high performance parts and cars to the greater American public. Now well-established, ROUSH Industries and Jack himself made an excellent name for themselves in professional racing and engineering and quickly created a worldwide empire based around delivering high-quality, superbly-engineered products to customers around the globe.

Jack Roush's own story has humble roots. After earning a degree in mathematics with a minor in physics from Berea College in Kentucky, Jack went to work for Ford in 1966 where he worked in their motorsports sector. He earned a Masters degree in Scientific Mathematics from Eastern Michigan University in 1970. That same year, he departed Ford and joined Wayne Gapp to form one of the best racing teams in the NHRA, IHRA and AHRA during the time. In 1976, Jack founded Jack Roush Performance Engineering (JRPE), the precursor to ROUSH Performance as we know it today. JRPE produced and marketed performance parts that were developed for track use on Roush racing vehicles. The company gradually expanded, acquiring new assets beyond racing becoming Roush Enterprises, which now employs nearly 2,000 people worldwide. Jack Roush never lost sight of racing and is a joint owner of the Roush-Fenway NASCAR team and is active in the SCCA and IMSA racing series by offering components and hardware. The long racing legacy, dedication to precision engineering and love of performance all led to the establishment of ROUSH Performance in 1995, and arguably the most noticeable face of ROUSH enterprises.

If there was a single flaw in the initial ROUSH Performance business model, it was being too self-limiting. Only 18 ROUSH Stage 3 Mustangs were produced during the 1995 production year. 2001 saw the powerful ROUSH Stage 3 Mustang with 360 horsepower and 375ft/lbs of torque provided by a supercharged version of Ford's 4.6L modular V8. Interior, exterior and handling packages rounded out the revamped Mustang and it was well-received by the press and mainstream public and helped ROUSH rival titans like Saleen and Shelby, among others. Still, only 176 cars were produced and the wing of ROUSH Performance dedicated to parts only made replacements for their scant few ROUSH vehicles and did not provide their high-quality parts to the aftermarket en masse. Demand for ROUSH parts exceeded the few owners of actual ROUSH cars, and Mustang owners in general wanted a taste of ROUSH Performance parts. ROUSH itself didn't yet see much value in mass retail. Retailers like Stage 3 Motorsports and countless others helped ROUSH products flow into the mainstream by selling them to anyone with the desire to push their Mustangs and other Ford vehicles to their absolute limits of performance and styling.

If the Roush name wasn't a household name through their racing endeavors, the newfound focus on providing parts and performance vehicles to the everyday Joe made ROUSH Performance instantly recognizable and revered. When Ford switched from the SN95 to the S197 platform in 2005 for the fifth generation Mustangs, ROUSH performance was fully prepared. They took the lessons learned from their first vehicles to create the best and most extensive customized Mustang lines in the world. The new designs saw ROUSH completely overhaul their performance parts inventory with the gusto that had been sorely missing from the SN95 days. The fast-selling Mustangs, powerful ROUSH cars, high-quality performance parts and booming economy drove ROUSH Performance to new heights, and the momentum has scarcely let up. . ROUSH Mustangs are now designed to appeal to nearly everyone, and their parts have earned a stellar reputation on both heavily-modified track cars and the most mild of street-driven daily drivers.

ROUSH's dedication to quality and engineering made their parts absolute must-haves for Mustang and sports enthusiasts, and most of our success has hinged on their innate ability to churn out some of the best Mustang aftermarket parts without fail. Stage 3 Motorsports considers all of ROUSH Performance's products some of the best out there in terms of fit, finish and style making them a part of our Risk Free Products Program and the go-to parts for our own Mustangs.
