Question: Will an exhaust kit void my warranty?

Answer: An exhaust kit will not void the factory power train warranty.

Question: Shorty or Long Tube Headers?

Answer: This is a very common question, here is the short answer. Shorty headers will bolt up to the factory mid pipe and will give approx 15 HP and 15 Ft Lbs of torque. These are easy to install and usually cost less.

Long tube headers will require you to use a matching mid pipe. Long tube headers give you more high end HP and about the same low end torque. These usually cost more and take longer to install.

Question: What should i buy to change the sound of my mustang and gain some Horsepower?

Answer: The answer to this question is different for the 1979-2004 mustangs and the 2005-2010 mustangs.

1979-2004 Mustangs Answer: If you are looking to add sound and horsepower you should add a cat-back exhaust kit. These give you a deep sound and about 10-12 HP. If you need more sound and more power then you will need to add headers.

2005-2010 Mustang Answer: You will only need an Axle back exhaust. These consist of about 1 foot of pipe, 2 mufflers and 2 tips. This is all it takes to add 10 horsepower and great sound to your mustang GT.

Answer: This one has been debated for a long time. We can give you our answer. We suggest buying ceramic coated headers if you are located in an area where metal rust. If you drive your mustang year round in the snow and rain ceramic would be a good investment. We are located in Arizona. Most of us at Stage 3 do not run ceramic coated headers on our mustangs. We do not have to worry about our headers rusting.

Answer: X pipe is more efficient than "H" pipes & makes more power. And Here is why.....

The "X" Crossover concept is the latest in exhaust technology. An "X" Crossover setup will always be as good or better than the traditional H-pipe. In SOME street situations, you will not be able to tell the difference by the seat of the pants but, the power gain is there. With this in mind you might find spending the extra money worthwhile. It has a unique sound that many really like.
Undoubtedly you have heard claims of 30 to 50 horsepower gains by some. Such large gains are not typical, but can be achieved under certain circumstances. All "X" Pipes are NOT the same. Some are nothing more than stamped steel "clam shell" "X" center sections which offer little to no scavenging affect/hp gains over "H" Crossovers. You do get what you pay for in the exhaust system world. For example Kooks, Stainless Works, American Racing, and JBA Headers all offer their own unique industry secrets when designing their "X" crossovers. To many the added power and exotic sound of an "X" center section is worth their slight increase in price.

-H sections generally give an exhaust system a more hollow "old school" sound.
The older "H" technology is the most commonly used crossover for factory vehicles. They offer the ability to balance exhaust pressures from each bank just like "X" center sections. However "H" crossovers do not scavenge exhaust gasses as efficiently as "X" crossovers. But due to a lower cost to the consumer and retro muscle exhaust note they have stayed very popular threw the years.

1999-04 SLP LoudMouth II :
From the exterior looks the same as the LM1 system but offers a completely new design internally. The LoudMouth II system offers a fiberglass packed wall between a perforated 2.5" tube and the resonator's outer case. This design helps to reduce the in cabin resonance and also to lower the exhausts volume. The LM2 system is still considered aggressive when compared an oval cased muffler such the SLP Power-flow. We recommend using the LM2 catback with stock headers and catted mid-pipe. Although some customers will run after market headers and high flow catted mid-pipes to obtain more power and consequently increase the exhaust's total volume.
