2005-2009 Mustang GT C & L Racer Cold Air Intake Install Guide
The following installation guide works for:
2005-2009 Mustang GT C & L Racer Cold Air Intake - CL10699-05PR Tools you will need:
8mm Nut Driver or Socket, 10mm Nut Driver or Socket, 1/4" Nut Driver or Ratchet, Flathead Screwdriver
C & L includes a T-20 Torx bit and MAF sensor screws in this 2005-2009 Mustang CAI kit. Step 1
Disconnect (-) negative battery terminal. Step 2
Unplug Mass Air Meter and Remove PCV Tube: To unplug Mass Air Meter from your Mustang's stock inlet hose: Slide red locking clip back, then squeeze the tab on the connector while pulling.
To remove PCV Tube from inlet hose: Twist green locking clip while pulling.
Remove the other end of the PCV Tube from the driver's side valve cover in the same way. You will not reuse this tube. ![]() Step 3
Remove your Mustang's factory air intake assembly: Use screwdriver to loosen clamps where inlet hose attaches to your Mustang's throttle body.
Use 10mm socket to remove bolt that holds air filter box to the driver side engine bay wall. Set the bolt aside. You will need it later.
Pull inlet hose away from your Mustang's throttle body and lift air box assembly straight up and out of the engine compartment.
Set your stock air intake assembly aside, you will need it later. Step 4
Remove your Mustang's Mass Air Meter and install it into your new C & L Mass Airflow Housing: Use the T 20 Torx to remove the 2 Torx screws that hold the Mass Air Meter in your Mustang's stock inlet hose, and slide it out.
Install your Mustang's Mass Air Meter into your new C & L Mass Airflow Housing using the new screws included in this kit.
The flow arrow on the Mass Air Meter should be pointing towards the small lip on the MAF housing. If it is not, you've installed it the wrong way. Step 5
Install supplied bright blue rubber coupler on your 2005-2009 Mustang GT's throttle body: Fit the supplied bright blue coupler hose over your Mustang's throttle body opening.
Place one of the supplied hose clamps around where the blue coupler attaches to your Mustang's throttle body. Tighten. Step 6
Install your new C & L heat shield/air box: Use the factory 10mm bolt and mounting location to secure the air box. Step 7
Install your new C & L Inlet Tube: Place your C & L Cold Air Intake assembly into the engine bay so that the wide end of the inlet hose fits into the bright blue coupler on the throttle body and the narrow end fits through the hole in the air box.
Tighten a supplied hose clamp around the end of the inlet hose that goes into the bright blue coupler.
Install the rubber PCV hose that is attached to the inlet tube on to the nipple on the valve cover.
Slide the smaller side of the Mass Airflow Housing into the tube, through the hole in the air box.
Use the supplied blue coupler and clamps to secure the Mass Airflow Housing to the inlet tube.
Slide your new air filter on to the MAF housing and firmly tighten all the clamps.
Plug in the MAF sensor connector. Step 8
Reconnect your 2005-2009 Mustang GT's negative (-) battery terminal. Note: At this point you will need to re-tune your Mustang's computer settings. If you don't have a tuning device or the proper tune for C & L's Racer Cold Air Intake, you should contact Stage 3 Motorsports. |
