2005-2009 Mustang GT Airaid Cold Air Intake Install Guide
The follow installation guide works for:
Airaid's 2005-2009 Mustang GT Cold Air Intake kit includes:
Airaid Premium Filter, Airaid Intake Tube, Modular Venturi Tube, Urethane Oval Coupler, Urethane Hump Hose, Filter Adapter,Cool Air Dam, 3/8''x 12'' PCV Tube, 22'' Weather Strip.
Included Hardware:
1/4''-20 Button Head Bolt x3, 1/4'' Flat Washer x3, 8-32 x 3/8'' Button Head Bolt x2, Hose Clamp x4, Grommet, Tall Grommet, Aluminum Sleeve, Aluminum Fitting, T-20 Torx Bit.
Tools Required For Installation:
5/32'' and 3/32'' Allen Wrenches, 5/16'' and 10mm Sockets, Ratchet and Extension, Razor Blade. Step 1
Disconnect your Mustang GT's negative (-) battery terminal. Step 2
Unplug Mass Air Meter and Remove PCV Tube: To unplug Mass Air Meter from your Mustang's stock inlet hose: Slide red locking clip back, then squeeze the tab on the connector while pulling.
To remove PCV Tube from inlet hose: Twist green locking clip while pulling.
Remove the other end of the PCV Tube from the driver's side valve cover in the same way. You will need the PCV Tube later! ![]() Step 3
Remove your Mustang's factory air intake assembly: Use screwdriver to loosen clamps where inlet hose attaches to your Mustang's throttle body.
Use 10mm socket to remove bolt that holds air filter box to the driver side engine bay wall. Set the bolt aside. You will need it later. Make sure you don't remove the rubber grommets from the inner fender.
Pull inlet hose away from your Mustang's throttle body and lift air box assembly straight up and out of the engine compartment. Step 4
Remove your Mustang's Mass Air Meter: Use the T 20 Torx to remove the 2 Torx screws that hold the Mass Air Meter in your Mustang's stock inlet hose, and slide it out. Step 5
Use the 10mm socket to remove the bolt from the anti-lock brake bracket. You will need the bolt later. ![]() Step 6
Install the Airaid air filter adapter into the Airdaid Cool Air Dam: Install the air filter adapter into the Cool Air Dam using the three included button head bolts and 1/4'' flat washers. Step 7
Install your Airaid Cool Air Dam on your 2005-2009 Mustang GT: Install the provided tall grommet, with the groove at the top, into the Cool Air Dam hole on your Mustang's inner fender.
Slide the aluminum sleeve into the center of the grommet.
Install the Airaid Cool Air Dam into the factory grommets on your Mustang's inner fender.
Reinstall the 10mm bolts you removed in steps 3 and 5. Step 8
Install the hump hose on the air filter adapter: Place one of the supplied hose clamps over each end of the hump hose.
Tighten only the clamp that secures the hump hose to the Cool Air Dam. Step 9
Install the supplied grommet and aluminum PCV tube fitting into your Airaid Inlet tube: Insert the grommet into the small hole on the the side of the Airaid Inlet tube, near where the Intake tube attaches to your Mustang's throttle body.
Insert the aluminum PCV tube fitting into the grommet. Step 10
Install the Modular Venturi Tube into the Airaid Inlet Tube: The Modular Venturi Tube inserts into the narrow end of your Airaid Inlet Tube, the end that goes into the Cool Air Dam.
Make sure the mass air meter slot in the Modular Venturi Tube lines up with the slot in the inlet tube. Step 11
Install the mass air meter you removed from you stock inlet tube in step 4, into you new Airaid inlet tube: Place your factory mass air meter in the slot near the narrow end of your Airaid inlet tube (where you installed the Modular Venturi Tube).
Use the supplied button head screws, do NOT use the factory screws, to secure the mass air meter. Step 12
Install the oval coupler on your Airaid inlet tube: Place one of the supplied hose clamps over each end of the silver oval coupler.
Place the supplied oval coupler on the end of the inlet tube that fits to your Mustang's throttle body (near the PCV tube fitting).
Tighten only the clamp that secures the silver oval coupler to your Airaid inlet tube. Step 13
Install your Airaid inlet tube: Install the circular, narrow end of the inlet tube into the hump hose.
Tighten the clamp the secures the coupler to the throttle body. Tighten the clamp that secures the inlet tube to the hump hose.
Reconnect the mass air flow meter. Step 14
Install the Airaid Premium Air Filter onto the air filter adapter, and tighten the clamp. Install the supplied weather strip along the top edge of the Cool Air Dam. Step 15
Install the supplied PCV tube: Use a razor blade to slit the factory PCV tube vertically down from each end.
Remove the factory PCV tube ends from the factory PCV Tube.
Install the factory PCV tube ends into the supplied 3/8'' x 12'' PCV Tube.
Install the supplied PCV tube with factory ends to the stock locations on your 2005-2009 Mustang GT. Step 16
Reconnect your 2005-2009 Mustang GT's negative (-) battery terminal. |
