2005-2009 Mustang GT Steeda ProFlow Cold Air Intake Installation Guide
The following install guide works for:
2005-09 Mustang GT Steeda ProFlow Cold Air Intake Kit - 555-3131
2005-09 Mustang GT Steeda High Velocity ProFlow Cold Air Kit - Carbon Fiber - 555-3139 Steeda's 2005-2009 Mustang GT Cold Air Induction Kit includes:
Intake tube, long silicon coupler, short silicon coupler, (2) size #72 hose clamps, (2) size #64 hose clamps, (2) small hose clamps, large hose clamp, 5/8â black hose, billet meter, billet meter gasket, air filter, air shield, air filter bracket, air shield molding, circular air guide, (2) small screws, (4) medium screws with washers.
Tools you will need include:
Flat head screwdriver, adjustable wrench, 10mm wrench, 10mm socket, 8mm socket, ratchet, T-20 Torx wrench, adjustable grip pliers, needle-nosed pliers, 3/32 allen wrench, medium-sized allen wrench. Step 1
Disconnect your Mustang GT's negative (-) battery terminal. Step 2
Unplug Mass Air Meter and Remove PCV Tube: To unplug Mass Air Meter from your Mustang's stock inlet hose: Slide red locking clip back, then squeeze the tab on the connector while pulling.
To remove PCV Tube from inlet hose: Use a flathead screwdriver or 8mm socket to loosen the hose clamp that secures the PCV Tube to the inlet hose. Step 3
Remove your 2005-2009 Mustang GT's stock air box: Use 10mm socket to remove bolt that holds air filter box to the driver side engine bay wall.
Use a flat screwdriver or 8mm socket to loosen the hose clamp that secures the factory inlet hose to the air filter. Remove the factory air filter.
Lift out the factory air box and set it aside.
Make sure you keep track of the rubber grommets you find on the bottom of the factory air box. You will need them later. Step 4
Remove your 2005-2009 Mustang GT's stock inlet hose: Use an 8mm socket or flat screwdriver to loosen the clamp that holds the inlet hose to the throttle body.
Remove the inlet hose from your Mustang GT. Step 5
Install the silicon couplers on your Steeda inlet hose: Install the long silicon coupler on the small, circular opening of your Steeda inlet hose.
Use one of the the small, size #64 hose clamps to secure the silicon coupler to the inlet hose. Place the other #64 hose clamp on the other end of the coupler, but do not tighten it yet.
Install the short silicon coupler on the large oval end of the Steeda inlet hose.
Use one of the the large, size #72 hose clamps to secure the silicon coupler to the inlet hose. Place the other #72 hose clamp on the other end of the coupler, but do not tighten it yet. Step 6
Use the short 5/8'' hose to connect your PCV Tube to your Steeda Inlet Hose: Use the two small hose clamps to secure one end of the 5/8'' hose to the PCV tube and the other end to the small tube sticking out the side of your Steeda Inlet Hose.
Step 7
Install your Steed inlet hose to the throttle body: Use a screwdriver or 8mm socket to tighten the #72 clamp that secures the silicon coupler to your Mustang's throttle body. Step 8
Assemble your Steeda Air Shield: Place the included gasket between the meter and the air shield. Use the included screws to install the billet meter on the air shield. Make sure the slot for the mass air sensor faces toward the rear of the car.
Place the air guide through the inside of the air shield so that it rests inside the hole in the air shield. Step 9
Remove your Mustang's Mass Air Meter from your stock intake assembly and install it into your new Steeda billet meter: Use the T 20 Torx to remove the 2 Torx screws that hold the Mass Air Meter in your Mustang's stock inlet hose, and slide it out.
Install your Mustang's Mass Air Meter into your Steeda billet meter using the new screws included in this kit.
The flow arrow on the Mass Air Meter should be pointing towards the inlet hose, away from the air shield. Step 10
Install the molding on the air shield: It's easiest if you start on the bottom of the air shield and work your way around to the top.
You can use a rubber mallet to tap the molding into place. You may also want to use adjustable pliers to crimp it tight. Step 11
Install the air shield bracket: Use a 10mm socket to loosen, but not remove, the bolt securing the ABS box to the inner fender.
Slide the fork of the air shield bracket between the bolt head and rubber grommet. Do not tighten the bolt yet. ![]() Step 12
Install the Steeda air shield assembly: Install the rubber grommets from the bottom of the factory air box on the studs on the bottom of your Steed air shield.
Insert the studs through the factory locations. Step 13
Secure the inlet hose to the billet meter: Install the silicon coupler over the end of the billet meter.
Tighten the #64 hose clamp with a screw driver or 8mm socket. Step 14
Install the air filter: Use the supplied large hose clamp to secure the air filter to the air shield. Step 15
Secure the air shield to the air shield bracket: Put the supplied bolt through the pre-drilled hole near the bottom of the air shield. Tighten.
Tighten the bolt securing the ABS box that you loosened in Step 12. Step 16
Plug in the mass air sensor. Reconnect your 2005-2009 Mustang GT's negative (-) batter terminal. |
