2005-2010 Mustang GT Flowmaster Axle Back Install Guide

Flowmaster's 2005-2010 Mustang GT axle back exhaust kit includes:

Flowmaster mufflers with hangers x2, band clamps with 15mm bolts x2

Tools you will need include:

ratchet, extension, 10mm socket, 15mm socket, jack, jack stands

Step 1

Remove your 2005-2010 Mustang GT's stock axle-back exhaust system:

Jack up the rear of your 2005-2010 Mustang GT and support with jack stands.

Use the 15mm socket to loosen the bolts on the band clamps that secure the axle back to the over-the-axle pipes.

Use a 10mm socket to remove the bolts that hold rubber muffler hanger brackets to the chassis. There are four rubber brackets in all, one at the front and rear of each muffler. Each bracket is held to the chassis with 2 bolts.

Remove your stock axle back exhaust from your Mustang.

Step 2

Transfer the rubber muffler hanger brackets from your old mufflers to your new Flowmaster mufflers:

It helps to lay your old mufflers next to the corresponding Flowmaster muffler to see which rubber hanger brackets go where.

Simply slide the rubber hanger brackets off of your old muffler hangers and slide them onto the correct hangers on your new Flowmaster mufflers.

Step 3

Place the supplied Flowmaster band clamps on your new axle back exhaust:

The supplied band clamp goes over the end of your Flowmaster axle back pipes, where they connect to your Mustang's over the axle tubing.

Do not tighten the clamps yet.

Step 4

Install your Flowmaster axle back on the over the axle pipes:

Slide each of your Flowmaster axle back components onto your Mustang's over the axle pipes.

Do not tighten the clamps yet.

Step 5

Install the rubber muffler hanger brackets:

Use a 10mm socket and the factory bolts to reinstall the rubber muffler hanger brackets in their stock locations on your 2005-2010 Mustang GT.

Step 6

Tighten the clamps:

Make sure your Flowmaster axle back is positioned how you want.

Use a 15mm socket to tighten the clamps that secure the axle back to the over the axle pipes.

Step 7

Visually inspect the way your new Flowmaster axle back fits on the car. Make sure the exhaust tips protrude from the rear bumper, that everything is lined up properly, and that no exhaust component rubs against the chassis of your Mustang. Make adjustments as needed.
