Performance upgrades for the 2007 Ford Mustang.

While the 2007 model year saw literally no changes to the GT or base model Mustangs, the Shelby GT500 made a triumphant return to the Mustang production line. The new GT500 came standard with a 4V 5.4L DOHC version of Ford's modular engine that received an Eaton M122H roots-style supercharger from the factory. The engine's total output was a massive 500 horsepower with 480ft/lbs of torque and came standard with suspension and brake upgrades to cope with the extra power. The base model came with the 4.0L Cologne V6 and the GT received the 4.6L SOHC Modular V8 with the same 300 horsepower rating it had since 2005. The base model was completely unchanged, but the GT received a sportier upgrade option in the form of the ''California Special'' edition that included non-functional hood and side scoops, along with unique side striping with the GTCS lettering. All of the production models used the S197 body style that was introduced in 2005 and kept the retro design cues and styling attributes. The continuation of the engines and body allowed for even more refinement in the Mustang performance parts aftermarket, and the reintroduction of Shelby brought even more performance modifications into the fray. Stage 3 Motorsports has all of the aftermarket accessories that you need to make your V6, GT or GT500 really shine.

Bolt-on engine modifications are where the majority of Stage 3's customer start modifying their Mustangs, and many easily-installed engine enhancements are the most effective. Our most popular aftermarket add-ons are cold air intakes for the GT and the base model. All of our cold air intakes (CAIs) are functionally similar, though feature different designs for the three available Mustang models. Most CAI systems use a combination of heat shields, insulated inlet tubing and highly efficient air filters to bring in more air with cooler temperatures than the stock air box. The greatly improved airflow can increase total horsepower by up to 15hp. Some CAIs alter airflow to the extent that they require custom tuning in order to avoid engine damage and lean conditions. Our own Stage 3 Custom tuning will not only get more power out of your CAI, but also qualifies you for our Loyalty Tunes program that grants you free tunes for life on selected products purchased from Stage 3 Motorsports. We always recommend upgrading to a new throttle body when also investing in a CAI, because the CAI installation requires dismantling the factory air system allowing the new throttle body to be simply dropped in. Aftermarket throttle bodies increase airflow into the Mustang's intake manifold with larger, more efficient valve designs. Most performance throttle bodies give gains of around 10 horsepower or more. The 4.6L V8 of the GTs can gain more power with a set of underdrive pulleys. The stock pulleys for the belt-driven accessories use up more engine power than needed for their basic functions. Underdrive pulleys are smaller and lighter than the factory variants and work by reducing drag on the belt and allowing the engine to use more power on the flywheel. Most underdrive kits can give the engine back up to another 10 horsepower.

The factory exhaust system on both the base V6 and GT fails to give either model a classic muscle car rumble or the horsepower and torque necessary to really perform on the track or the street. Unlike the older SN95s, the newer S197s used a rear muffler setup and only require a cost-effective axle-back exhaust kit to get an excellent, aggressive exhaust tone. Axle-back kits use improved mufflers or full muffler deletes with performance tips that generate a big roar and can give very mild horsepower gains by slightly reducing back pressure. For actual horsepower gains, Stage 3 Motorsports offers a large selection of aftermarket mid-pipes for owners of GT Mustangs. Our performance x-pipes and h-pipes use mandrel-bent tubing with high-flow catalytic converters or full converter deletes to eliminate most of the back pressure caused by the factory h-pipe and extremely restrictive catalytic converters. New mid-pipes can give 10 to 20 horsepower gains, depending on their specifications. Performance headers can give huge increases in horsepower and torque while providing the engine compartment with a unique appearance. Stage 3 has both short tube, ''shorty'' headers'' and full long tube headers available. Shorty headers are simple direct replacements for the stock exhaust manifolds and use more efficient tubing to reduce back pressure and provide up to 10 horsepower gains. Shorty headers can be used with the factory mid-pipe or other stock-length mid-pipes. Long tube headers require a corresponding short mid-pipe from the same brand and feature tubing that stretches from the engine's exhaust ports to underneath the Mustang. Stage 3 has several long tube header and mid-pipe combinations to make the process easier. Some of our mid-pipes and headers may not meet emissions requirements in your area. Check your local emissions guidelines before ordering.

All of Stage 3's horsepower and torque enhancements mean little if your Mustang can't stay on the road. The best way to improve the S197's overall handling is with a set of lowering springs. Our lowering springs slightly alter the Mustang's height for a better center of gravity and use progressive spring rates to improve cornering, braking and acceleration. Being able to stop is generally a good idea, and Stage 3 Motorsports carries several full brake kits from some of the world's best performance parts manufacturers, including Wilwood, ROUSH and Baer. The majority of our brake kits come with massive calipers, high-quality rotors and often new brake lines that work together to bring the most powerful track cars to a safe stop from extreme speeds. A full set of Nitto NT555 tires will also help keep your Mustang in constant contact with the pavement with their sophisticated tread and structural designs. The NT555 is a series of ultra-high performance summer tires that are excellent for track applications without causing noise, vibration and harshness for the daily drive. Contact Stage 3 Motorsports for our latest tire prices and size availability.

The retro, sleek design of the S197 adapts well to a wide array of exterior accessories that can give your Mustang an almost endless variety of looks and themes. DG Custom Auto has sets of both pre-painted side window scoops and quarter window louvers that cover the unsightly quarter windows for a more complete, sporty look. One of our best-selling and most aggressive body pieces is the ROUSH front fascia. The ROUSH fascia fits GT and V6 Mustangs with a GT grille conversion and gives the front chassis a complete makeover. The fascia has a redesigned lower grill with extra openings on each side and integrated fog lights that give the entire Mustang more road presence and style. For an even more unique look, Stage 3 has many full body kits, as well as over 60 different wheels with unique designs and finishes that are perfect for any application.

The best way to push your Mustang to the absolute limit of horsepower and torque is with a ROUSH Supercharger kit. ROUSH provides two superchargers for the 2007 Mustang: the compact M90 ROUSHcharger and the powerful R2300 series, of which we prefer the Single-Belt Phase 2 variant. The M90 is an excellent forced-induction option for the street driver looking for more power and also works well with autocross and other light track event Mustangs. ROUSH's M90 pumps the S197's total power up to 435hp with 400ft/lbs of torque and is safe to use on a bone stock engine. The R2300 instantly pushes the Mustang's V8 up to 550 horsepower with 500ft/lbs, but can handle a maximum of 650 horsepower before encountering belt slippage issues. Stage 3 Motorsports strongly recommends upgrading to a new short block or forged internals on applications with over 500rwhp.

Even though the Shelby GT500 is one of the most powerful and impressive Mustangs to ever roll out of Ford's production line, a few upgrades can boost their output even more. The supercharged 5.4L V8 greatly benefits from a cold air intake, some of which can add up to 35 horsepower after their required tuning that may also qualify you for our Loyalty Tunes program. Steeda manufactures an uprated supercharger pulley that produces up to 3psi more boost pressure for huge horsepower gains in a small package. We have a range of long tube headers that give the GT500 even more brutal power to crush its opponents on the drag strip or track. Despite its uprated suspension, the 4000lb GT500 isn't the most nimble Mustang ever seen, but a set of Steeda Coilovers can rectify most of its handling issues and allow you to take the hardest track corners easily for a well-rounded GT500.
