Steeda X5 Ball Joint Kit - Set of 2
Steeda's X5 ball joint kit replaces the stock ball joint with a taller, elongated design that makes almost any aftermarket lowering spring kit more efficient to improve overall performance. The X5 ball joint is a direct replacement for the stock ball joint. Steeda designed the X5 to fit 2005 to 2009 Mustangs with lowering springs and at least 18" wheels.
The X5 is specifically designed to raise the S197's roll center -- the point where suspension forces are transferred into the Mustang's body. Lowering springs cause this point to be lower which changes the way the car's weight shifts through turns. The higher compression rate of lowering springs generally mitigates most body roll issues, but the X5 ball joint raises the roll center back into a more optimum range to allow your springs to operate more smoothly translating into improved handling, steering response and traction.
Steeda manufactures each X5 from high-quality materials that meet Ford and other manufacturers' assurance standards. The X5 was heavily tested in police pursuit vehicles to guarantee their strength and durability. These ball joints change the Mustang's bump steer geometry and Steeda recommends using a bump steer kit for corrections. The X5 requires the use of at least an 18" wheel for proper clearance.
